We were privileged to visit the Office of the District Commissioner of Rungwe and meet with Hon. Jaffar Haniu, District Commissioner of Rungwe, for a productive working meeting focused on exploring ways to promote and increase the visibility of Rungwe as a tourism destination.
Rungwe is one of Tanzania’s districts with remarkable tourism potential, offering a unique combination of crater lakes, waterfalls, mountains, scenic landscapes, and agricultural tourism experiences.
The district is home to 11 crater lakes, beautiful waterfalls, impressive mountain landscapes, and fertile agricultural areas producing crops such as tea, avocado, bananas, and ginger. These resources create opportunities for nature tourism, adventure tourism, agro-tourism, cultural tourism, and community-based tourism.
The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss the importance of strengthening collaboration among the Government, private sector, tourism stakeholders, media, and local communities in order to give Rungwe’s tourism attractions greater visibility and position the district more strongly on the tourism map
