Day 1 — Iringa to Ruaha National Park | Welcome to the Wild
Meet your Chikanda Safaris guide in Iringa and travel towards Ruaha National Park. Depending on arrival time and park entry arrangements, enjoy an introductory game drive before settling into your lodge or tented camp.
Day 2 — Ruaha National Park | A Full Day of Wildlife Exploration
Spend a full day exploring Ruaha’s spectacular wilderness. Search for elephants, lions, giraffes, buffaloes and other wildlife while enjoying the park’s iconic baobab landscapes and river habitats.
Day 3 — Ruaha to Iringa | From Wilderness to Highland Heritage
Enjoy breakfast before returning to Iringa. Take in the changing landscapes and enjoy a relaxing evening in town before continuing your Southern Highlands adventure.
Day 4 — Mpanga-Kipengere Game Reserve | Mountains, Forests & Waterfalls
Explore the dramatic highland scenery of Mpanga-Kipengere Game Reserve. Discover selected accessible natural attractions, enjoy scenic viewpoints and experience a quieter side of Tanzania’s wilderness. Continue towards your overnight accommodation along the planned route.
Day 5 — Kitulo National Park | The Serengeti of Flowers
Discover Kitulo’s high-altitude grasslands, remarkable botanical diversity and mountain scenery. During the flowering season, the landscape can transform into a spectacular display of wildflowers. Continue towards the Mbeya or Tukuyu area for your overnight stay.
Day 6 — Lake Ngozi & Kapologwe Waterfalls | A Day of Natural Wonders
Embark on a guided hike through the forest to the rim of Lake Ngozi, a striking volcanic crater lake surrounded by lush vegetation. Afterwards, continue towards Kapologwe Waterfalls, subject to the final route, access conditions and available daylight. Proceed towards Matema for your overnight stay if the day’s driving schedule permits.
Day 7 — Matema Beach | Relax by Lake Nyasa
Slow down and enjoy the beautiful shores of Lake Nyasa. Spend the day relaxing at Matema Beach, admiring the surrounding mountains, enjoying lakeside walks or choosing optional local experiences.
Day 8 — Matema Beach to Songwe International Airport | Departure
Enjoy breakfast and, depending on your flight time, a final moment by the lake. Depart for Songwe International Airport in Mbeya for your onward journey. Please arrange a flight time that allows adequate road-transfer time.
